Stainless Mounts

Stainless-Steel Bases and Rings

Conetrol has begun adding to its inventory of two-piece bases made of stainless steel. Bases are now available for BSA, Hoya, McMillan, Sauer and Savage bolt-actions, the Kimber Big Game Rifle (drilled), the Browning A-Bolt and BBR, the Remington 700, the Winchester 70, the Weatherby Mark V and the large-ring Mausers (commercial and military).

Other stainless-steel bases will be added in the months and years ahead, as more guns are produced for the market with rust-proof metal components. Check back on the website periodically for updates to this page!

Stainless-steel rings are also available in the sizes 1" and 30mm.

The stainless-steel bases and rings are available in the three standard Conetrol finishes: Huntur, Gunnur and Custum. Cost is 50% more than the norm for each of these conventional Conetrol stylings long offered in blued steel. (Custum bases are streamlined whereas Huntur and Gunnur bases are angular edged, and the Custum rings are the only ones equipped with stainless-steel stud screws. Both Custum rings and bases normally come with a matte finish when provided in stainless steel.) A glossy finish on stainless-steel items is available for 50% extra cost.

All stainless-steel items, of course, are left white to match the stainless guns they will usually be affixed to. Stainless-steel cone screws are provided as standard with stainless-steel bases.

___

Conetrol's ring-extending "Custum" two-piece base and medium-height rings in stainless steel, holding a Nikon 3-9 variable scope on the 700 Remington long action. A fine brushed satin finish is Conetrol's standard for stainless steel. The front segment of a ring-extending base positions the ring either behind or ahead of the front two screwholes rather than between them as on a regular base. Cost is the same. Normally a ring-extending base is attached with the front ring back -- as shown above -- to accommodate short-tubed scopes, but it can also be used to position the ring forward to increase ring span (and stability) when very long scopes are mounted on short rifle actions.

Electroless-Nickel and Teflon

For those guns which Conetrol does not have stainless-steel bases, rust-proof nickeled units will continue to be available in Huntur, Gunnur and Custum motif. Matte finishing is customary, which will bestow that brushed stainless-steel look to dress up the finest stainless gun.  For nickeled items the cost is 50% more.   Cost is doubled for items that have to be sent out.

Our horizontally split rings -- whether of the Adjust-Quik-Detach (AQD), Quik-Zero (QZ), or Extra-High category -- are also available in electroless nickel for 50% extra cost.

Conetrol bases and rings are also available with Teflon finish. Color can be either matte black or "NATO Green." Teflon items have a delivery time of three to five weeks, since they have to be sent out. For the same reason Teflon items are double the cost of the regular Conetrol blued styles.
