Testimonials

Most of the testimonials below employ only the initials of Conetrol users in identifying the authors.   This policy was set early on because permission to use full names was not solicited or granted.   However, if you are reading this and recognize your comments or initials or address and would like to have your name included with your testimonial,  Conetrol would be not only pleased but honored to replace your initials with your full name.   Just email or write us and the change will be quickly made.   And please include your city and zip code if this information is missing.
The testimonials are arranged in alphabetical order with the initial of the last name determining position on the Testimonials webpage.  If your name is Frank Lawson, for instance,  you would go down the list until you get into the L's, then try to find FL.   If there is more than one FL, see if you can recognize your quotation which you may have sent us either by postmail or e-mail.   If there is the name of a city after FL and it is your city, that may pretty well identify you as the author of the testimonial. Tell us it is OK to use your full name and this will be done.  On the other hand,   if you don't recognize the quotation and it turns out another FL in your town sent the testimonial, let us know and the testimonial will continue to be identified by initial rather than full name.

Thank you for the newest brochure. I have had Conetrol rings and bases on my Kimber and am very pleased with them. I would now like to fit them to my Ruger No.1. This has been rebarreled to 300 H&H and the gunsmith machined the 1/4 rib to fit exactly the barrel contour so I wish to keep that.
I would therefore like the Custum two-pc RUGDTC2 (DapTar) base and 1" Custum rings.
I have done as you said and with the scope mounted (using the Ruger quarter rib)  a drill bit of 29/64th will not quite go but a 7/16 will (between the bottom of the scope tube and the quarter rib).   So please ... supply the appropriate mount.
I am travelling up to Scotland tomorrow morning and will not be able to telephone (if needed until mid week).   I pick up emails at anytime.

I’ll say your AQD (Quick Detach webpage on Conetrol website) scope mounting is very solid and reliable. I did some small gunsmith work with the AQD base bottoms using fine metal sandpaper over the Vanguard receiver to perfectly horizontal-align the top surface of the front and rear mounting bases and made it slightly sloping toward bore firing line which save zero-in scope vertical adjusting clicks and leave more vertical clicks for real shooting adjustments.
After I properly adjusted both the front and rear windage adjustment screws, I can see almost perfect scope alignment with bore firing line as can be seen with a scope cross-hair and a laser bore sighter.  The scope cross-hair and a laser dot always waltz along the firing line when I pointed to a white target at 100m, 200m and 300m at night. I believe I could not easily achieve this with other inflexible scope mounting suite.

[ed.note: Received with request for catalog and for suggestions for proper mount]: .... I plan on mounting a Leupold Compact 3x-9x scope in matte finish on a right-hand Remington short action (257 Roberts) Model 700 Mountain Rifle. I would prefer that the scope be mounted as low as possible.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. Your mounts have been on my other rifles and have NEVER changed sight after much use.

I need another set of your wonderful scope mounts. I currently have 5 sets on my other rifles. I need to have a set of Custum 2-piece bases and low Custum rings (for a Weatherby 7mm with a Redfield 2x7 compact).

The mounts perform flawlessly on my 300 Win and 7mm Rem Mags. Over 500 rounds through each without any movement in the scope.

This is like that potato chip ad: "Betcha you can't eat 12:13 AM 4/7/2010just one." Betcha can't own just one Conetrol scope mount. Now even my nice (another manufacturer named) rings bother me. So I'm replacing my mounts. May I please have (a Custum set for the Browning A-Bolt).

998599 ~ EMAIL OR POSTMAIL RECEIVED FROM:   DB --- Tarawera Rotorua NEW ZEALAND
Thanks heaps for the info you gave me regarding mounts and rings for my old Mannlicher.   I have contacted all the people you thought may have info and am awaiting their reply.
By the way, I am most certainly a fan of your company's rings and mounts.   Have them on 3 of my rifles already, including a more modern Manlicher.   I have found them to be extemely robust and of the highest quality;  sure is the closest thing i've come across to welding the mounts and rings on (a gun)!
Again, I thank you for your very detailed response.   If you're ever in New Zealand and want a hunt then please do get back to me.   There's plenty of every type of deer here and we have open seasons and no license required.

60510 ~ EMAIL OR POSTMAIL RECEIVED FROM:   Glen F. Barnett -- Westgate NSW 2048, AUSTRALIA
Firstly, THANK YOU for a truly great product -- the AQD (Adjust-Quik-Detach) base/split-ring system on my Weatherby MKV works as promised and I am very happy!    [ed.note: Click the Quick Detach webpage on the www.conetrol.com website for a detailed description of the AQD system].
I did have to remove/attach the scope with rings 3 or 4 times - firing the rifle each time - to get it to 'settle in' & once the correct windage was established, the AQD (adjust) screws (left side) were secured with 'Locktite 262 thread locker'.
The result is that (removal and reattachment) of scope to rifle does not alter the impact point up to 100 metres.   (I have only tested it out to this range).
I now want Conetrol bases and rings for my other hunting rifle (Anschutz Mod. 1431, calibr .22 Hornet ).   See description below and please review the 5 pics attached for visual reference.

38610 ~ EMAIL OR POSTMAIL RECEIVED FROM:   Glen Barnett -- Sydney, AUSTRALIA
[ed.note: This is a second letter from Mr. Barnett, speaking of Custum base and Quik-Zero Rings purchased for his Anschutz]:   I just wanted to thank you for the Quik-Zero rings and Custum two-piece mounts you provided for my Anschutz .22 Hornet. They have fully resolved the 'wandering zero' issues I have had with this rifle since day one.
I was particularly impressed with the quality, fit and finish of the Custum bases -- very well engineered!
Bench rest results over four successive outings to my local 50 metre indoor range are impressive, with one-hole, three-shot groups being quite common and five-shot groups being within 1/4th inch, despite the use of different production runs of the same ammo --- I always suspected that this rifle could shoot that accurately!
I must admit that it took a few range outings to get the Quik-Zero rings to settle fully into the Custum bases, but am happy to report that all is well and there is now no change in impact point with removal and re-fit of my rifle scope.
I know from experience that this will translate nicely in the field --- Varmints beware!!
    Cheers!

Spoke to you today about my recent purchase of a used BAR 2 Safari 338 Mag. As I am a millwright I truly appreciate the design of the original Conetrol mounts which match the high luster blue of the gun perfectly, and the smooth design low profile is great looking. I am going to convert all my rifles over to your mounts and rings.
Wish I had run across these sooner. (On) the above metioned gun the front mount could go forward 3/4 of a inch. It has a Leupold 3.5 -10 Var-3 on it and the front tube has around 1 inch of tube left before the bell starts to open up.... Also, I want to get my scopes as close as possible (to the barrel).
I would like to request a catalog and any installation tips brochures you might have. Thanks.

This 70 has been waiting for its new owner to reach 12 so he can go with the big boys this year, and I want to provide the lad with a quality piece of equipment to start out with, made by folks who give a damn.

   Friends,
If anyone has any doubts about the strength of your product they should know that I have had no problems of any kind with them on my .460 Weatherby Magnum.   This rifle is actually used for serious "plinking" and as such it is fired quite a bit.
Since my targets are large things that are selected to "react" to this powerful cartridge,  full-power loads are always used.   The Conetrol mounts have taken this extreme punishment in stride.
They are a beautiful and rugged product indeed.

980490 ~ LETTER IN SAYSYOU COLUMN OF DECEMBER 2010 AMERICAN HUNTER, WRITTEN BY:   Douglas Cummings --- Heyworth IL 61745
  Conetrol Scope Mounts
My gunsmith and I had never heard of them 35 years ago.  I bought a Model 70 Winchester in .375 H&H Magnum at a gun show, and asked my gunsmith to find me some mounts and a Leupold 2x-7x scope for it.   He said the only thing he could find was a Conetrol unit, which was kind of expensive.
We had the hardest time getting them mounted; we had to read the instructions a couple times.  But ever since I've never had to tighten or mess with any of the screws.
This rifle has been on 12 outfitted hunts.  It's been in big and little planes, in pickups, and on horses and ATVs, and I've shot over 700 rounds through it.  I can honestly say it's the best $40 I ever spent on something I'd never neard of before.

A friend of mine recently purchased his first rifle, a .270 Weatherby Vanguard complete with (manufacturer named) scope and rings. A very nice piece of equipment, to be sure. However, when I showed him my rifles which are all outfitted with those beautiful Conetrol mounts and rings, well, he said ... "I gotta have 'em!"
So I'm requesting your latest catalouge and price list on your rings and bases. Your products are so great they sell themselves! Many thanks.

I must tell you that I believe you have the most desirable mounts available. The machining and finish surpass what you would normally find on gun mounts and they are certainly the most aesthetically pleasing.
Your one piece base is particularly desirable and has a feature built in that I was not aware of, and that is the section of steel that butts up against the back of the front part of the receiver that keeps the base from being able to move forward under recoil.
I cannot imagine a stronger base, and I've never seen rings that have the same gripping ability as these vertically split rings.
Every future rifle of mine is going to wear Conetrol mounts and I thank you for a superior product.

Good morning.  I am writing to let you know I received my Custum rings and bases in the mail yesterday, and my boys and I installed them and mounted the scope on my new-to-me Browning BLR last evening.
I am also writing to congratulate you on, and thank you for, the finest set of rings and bases I have ever seen!  I wanted a polished finish to match that of the receiver and scope, and I certainly got my wish.  These rings fit together perfectly, and the fit and finish on all parts is absolutely amazing to me!  I am extremely pleased, and just wanted to write to say thanks.
My young boys and I hope to make it out this afternoon to sight the rifle in and have a fun afternoon together.

[ed.note: The excerpts following are from a letter mailed to probably the most famous classic gun making firm in our country, a copy of which writer WF kindly sent to Conetrol. We are not familiar with the writer, but understand from his letterhead that his life has been devoted to Hunter Education.]
... I have just finished thumbing through your brochure (received from a fine classic rifle maker) and the photos reflect one easily corrected component and for the life of me, I can't figure why you would not have pictured your "world class rifle" with truly the world class mount?
Now, I know you must know of them ... Conetrol out of Seguin, Texas. I've used them for years without incident and there is no finer scope mount on the market in design, aesthetically or functionally.    ..... The mounts are perfectly machined perfectly finished and present such an uncluttered streamline look. A world class finish.
No sir, I am not a company rep nor do I hold stock (in Conetrol). I simply fancy fine firearms. Yours are such and they deserve Conetrol mounts.

Just a note to say "Thanks" for an outstanding product.
I watched my Steyr S/T .375 H&H take a tremendus pounding in the gun racks of a Land Cruiser on my recent hunt to Zimbabwe's Matetsi area. I was sure there was no way it could hold its zero -- but it did!
My hunting partner's Steyr was also Conetrol equipped.
Performance like Conetrol's shouldn't go unrewarded -- Thanks again, George!

I do not believe that there could be any better mounting system than yours! Several years ago (about 8, I think) I installed yuour mounts o my Model 70 with a Leupold 2x7 scope and haven't had to touch a thing since. I have nothing but the highest praise for these mounts.
Am considering changing to one of the new Leupold 3.5-10x50 scopes. ... Could you please advise what ring height I would need to order to install this scope.
Will appreciate your help very much, since I would not even consider using any other mounts.

   G'day once more, Conetrol!
I first just wanted to say I love your mounts; been an absolute beaut on my T-Bolt and I'm happy to recommend them to any who'll listen!
The reason I'm getting in contact again is because I'd like to order another set of rings and bases. Exactly the same as last time as I'm planning to set up another T-Bolt exactly the same as my current one and the rifles are virtually identical in regards to the drilled and tapped receiver.
I guess you should have the details from last time but here are my order details just to be sure:  [ed.note: Custum base and rings specified for
T-Bolt and Zeiss 3-9x40.]

I have been a client of yours since getting out of high school in the early eighty's.
After reading about your product in a gun magazine, I purchased a base and rings. After many years of hard use, I am happy to say my scope has never lost zero. And many drops and spills later I attribute it to the Conetrol products.
I have had many friends over the years who use a lesser product, and who are not as tough on their equipment as I, who cannot make that claim.
So after adding on to my hunting collection I again ask to purchase your product.
I have two F.N. Safari rifles, one 30-06, another in 375H&H. Please send two sets of two piece (Huntur mounts).

Thanks for info on tightening down the rings for the K-14 ... I cranked them down quite snug and they did not budge at all
I took the allen wrench with me today when I sighted it in and didn't have to touch it. .... What is unbelievable is even after I took the rings out of the mounts and slid them up a bit from the variable dial, the rifle was still absolutely right on when I took it to the range.
Great mounts and rings. Thanks for the advice and a good product.

I bought a Conetrol Custum mount for my Dumolin 300 Win. Mag 12 years ago. I am still using it with great satisfaction. I never need to zero my rifle again even after (much) abuse in Asian mountains and even boar hunting in heavy bush. Incredible work. Thanks.
A friend of mine just bought a Weatherby Mark 5 in 257 Wea. Mag. It has one of those European detachable mounts on (it). As usuall it is untrustable for any kind of decent shooting. My friend asked me to buy a set of Conetrol Custum mounts and 30mm Custum rings rings, preferably of medium height suitable for Mark V and Swarovski 6x24. That is the story of this order.

I would be most grateful if you would send me your latest catalogue ad price list of scope mounts. .... I am particularly interested in mounts ... to suit the Mauser 98 and BRNO 22 cal. rimfire rifles (3/8" dovetail).
I have several rifles fitted with your mounts ... and they are absolutely first class in all respects.

In 1973 I was just out of the Army and going to school.   I was short on cash seven days a week.   Still, I knew the axiom: you get what you pay for.   I had noticed Conetrol rings and bases on Weatherby rifles,  so I assumed they could take a kick.
I had a well-known Seattle gunsmith (Jim Coward) install them on my Husqvarna action and install a Douglas air gauge barreL and of course a Timney trigger.   I put the action in a Brown precision; I did all the work on the stock.   The rifle was in Rem. 7mm mag.   The gun still shoots 3/4".   More importantly,  the same 3/4" for almost forty years.
Thanks for the very best fastener known to rifle shooting.
[ed.note: Mike advises that his son, Richard, shooting the rifle OFF HAND at four hundred yards, hit 8 X 10 steel plates four out of five times!]

68501 ~ EMAIL OR POSTMAIL RECEIVED FROM:   Eric Hilsenberg
Over 20 years ago i bought a new Colt Sauer rifle in 30-06. It was by far the finest rifle i had ever bought up to that time. Still is.... the action is silk smooth and the bluing is the same as on a Colt Python which is to say exceptional. I bought a Zeiss 3-9x36 T-star scope to go with it. I wanted something different and since i loved the rifle so much i wanted something that would look nice. So i bought my first set of Conetrol rings and bases for it. I saw them in an article about them in Gun Digest. I bought them for beauty and something different. What I didn't know when i bought them was how well they worked... I see there are other similar things now, but I've loved the look of my rifle ever since I bought them. Some people say they are a little on the pricey side, but they are a quality above most rings and bases.
I've never taken the scope off and have fired some good stiff loads through it. I zeroed it in for my favorite load and I have to tell ya... the scope is still as zeroed as when i started. They're beautiful, work great, and I think were worth every penny I paid for them. Over the years I've now gotten rid of a lot of my guns. but I kept what was the best that I had. Two have Conetrol mounts and rings on them. I still have the Colt Sauer with the Zeiss. I kept a Kimber of Oregon BGR Super America with a Swarovski, and my Browning Golden Clays trap gun.
I would recommend (Conetrol) mounts to anyone."

I'm a small country dealer and don't have a website to establish my bonefides. but I'm happy to pay retail as (Conetrol) is a fabulous product.
We have dealt in the past but my current credit card details are as follows.....

I have been seeing your ads since I was a kid (I am almost 56 now). A few years ago I ordered a custom rifle from Matt at Hill Country Rifle in New Braunfels, TX, It is a wilddcat caliber, a .308 necked down to a .257 cal.
To make a long story short, I ordered a Zeiss 4.5-14 scope and specified Conetrol rings and bases. The barrel, action, bases and rings are finished in black teflon. The entire setup is beautiful to look at: sleek and very custom-looking.
Performance-wise, I couldn't be happier. The mount is rock-solid, allowing me to shoot single-hole groups at 200 yards.
Thanks for making a fabulous product.

My son has recently purchased a Remington Model 700 Police Heavy Barreled Rifle and I told him he should get a set of your rings & mounts.
I have used your mounts and think they are excellent. .... They compliment the appearance of any fine rifle, they are etremely sturdy and when in the field or on the range they do draw notice from the 'cookie-cutter' crowd.
Would you please send me a brochure with your phone number, and also price and delivery for matte finished rings and bridge mount for a 1" scope with a 40-44 mm objective.

EMAIL OR POSTMAIL RECEIVED FROM:   Joseph Holt --- Verona PA 15147
I almost had this rifle rebarreled because the original mounts were off so far.    Remounted the scope (with Conetrol base and rings).
Two shots -- to dial it in.   This was the next three shots.   [ed.note:  Mr. Holt's letter, received by postmail, was written on back of paper target showing 1/2" group.]
   Again, thank you very much.

I have received my last order in good shape. Thank you again for providing me with your rings and bases. I think that you have the best in the business.
The order included the first set of straight (parallel) dovetail .22 rimfire bases that I have ordered from you. I am again impressed with your product, though I'm not sure whey I don't EXPECT this quality regularly. You would think that over the years I would finally get the idea that I should always expect you to provide me with the absolute best equipment that is available.
   Thanks again for wonderful products!

EMAIL OR POSTMAIL RECEIVED FROM:   JHH --- Avon IL 61415
First -- let me complement you on a wonderful product. The first & only set of your rings that I have used was a set of Custum rings holding a Redfield 2x7 on a Mod.70 .375 H&H. Beautiful, and I never once had a problem with them and many hundreds of rounds through the rifle!
Second -- do you make any of your rings in 30mm? Am considering a scope with that tube diameter & would like to use your fine rings.

I have had Conetrol mounts on a Custom 7mm Rem. Mag built by the late Jay Moore (McAllen TX) since 1976. They have performed flawlessly and without a doubt are the finest looking system available.
When I purchased a 2011 Winchester Super grade Model 70 recently from (a gun store) in Houston I insisted on Conetrol mounts after the sales people wanted to sell me a lesser product.
My compliments on the fine product you have delivered for many years.

I have several sets of Custum bases and rings I bought many, many years ago, and they are still the best out there.

EMAIL OR POSTMAIL RECEIVED FROM:   SH --- Taylor WI 54659
I have several rifles that have your bases and rings on them and I am a firm believer in your product. I like the look of rings that don't have all the extra bumps and things sticking off them. Plus when anyone that is half interested in rifles and knows quality stuff when they see it, I always get comments on your stuff on how good they look and where can they get them. ....
I thought I read at one time that you made bases that didn't require any modifications to the (military Mauser) action other than drilling and tapping. That is what I am looking for. I don't care if the clip guide had been ground off or not. It doesn't effect my shooting in any way so I am leaving the actions as they are.  .....[Ed.note: Conetrol does make mounts for most all military guns, with only drilling and tapping needed.]
My Sako's and Tikka have all been set up for scopes and this is my first step into the building my own rifle thing. I look forward to any information you can send me, and I hope to be buying several sets of rings and bases real soon.

EMAIL OR POSTMAIL RECEIVED FROM:   SH --- Watertown WI 53094
The rings and bases I received for my Tikka Model M-65 to mount my Weatherby 3-9x44 Supreme are the best. They are a lot more stable than the (propiertary manufacturer named) mounts I had on the rifle since I bought it in Germany in 1987.
You make a top quality product that looks and works better than anything else I have used or tried to date. Keep up the good work.

I have a 1969 Browning Sako 243.    I'd like the best you have to offer.   I own a set of your rings and bases on a CZ .204 (and) I love them.    Please provide me the pricing and part numbers for two-piece bases and the Custum rings in 30mm with a 40mm (objective) bell.   High polish on each.
I thought at some time I'd seen that you offered engraved rings.    Was I crazy?    [edit.note: Conetrol has never made engraved rings in the standard Huntur, Gunnur and Custum lines.    But certain horizontal-split rings -- described on Extra-High, Quik-Zero and AQD (Quick Detach) webpages -- are offered with engraving for 50% extra cost.]

On Saturday I installed your bases and rings (Gunnur base with Huntur rings on a Herter U-9) and must tell you that they are an engineering marvel.   I have no idea how you came up with the design for the split rings but they are a design masterpiece!
[ed.note: The three paragraphs just below were in a follow-up email received a few weeks later, after Tom had utilized the windage adjustments of his Conetrol mount to enable centering the reticle in his Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 scope.]
Yesterday I decided I needed a little "play" time and spent a couple of hours at the range.   I adjusted the mounts as you suggested and the results were perfect.
The bases and rings are rock solid!   I shot 5  1-inch groups at 100 yards,  and 5 groups at 200 yards that averaged 2 1/4 inches.
Feel free to use this information as you see fit.

EMAIL OR POSTMAIL RECEIVED FROM:   JK --- St. Joseph MI 49085
Just a note to let you know that I have at least 6 sets of your mts. installed on my most serious big-game rifles. They are the ONLY scope mts. that I have used that can lock a scope on a heavy recoiling hunting rifle to eliminate movement under heavy recoil.
Conetrol are the only scope mounts on my rifle during pack trips in the mountains for elk.

EMAIL OR POSTMAIL RECEIVED FROM:   JK --- St. Joseph MI 49085
[ed.note: This is a second letter received from JK of St. Joseph MI about two years later, speaking of a problem with another mount product]:   I have a Rem. .308 caliber Varmint Special that I use for silhouette shooting, and am having a problem keeping the scope from moving forward under extended firing conditions. The scope is a Bausch & Lomb 6-24x40 and it is mounted in (manufacturer named) rings and ... base.
After the scope pounded its way forward in the rear ring to the radius on the scope just ahead of the power select ring, the entire ring started to pound its way forward in the windage screws!
I have many sets of your rings and bases on much heavier hunting rifles and I believe they are the best in the WORLD! I can truthfully say that I have never had a scope move under recoil when installed in your mounts.
[In this second letter, JK ordered a Conetrol Gunnur two-piece base and rings for his Remington 700].

Before I get to the business part of this letter I have to take a few lines to praise your product. I have used several types of mounts and rings in the past but the Conetrol set I purchased last month are the best I have used.
[I will admit that mounting the scope in the rings is different but once I got the hang of it I found it's a snap. They mount lower than any other rings and the craftsmanship is superb. The finish matches my matte finished scope and adds what I think is the touch which makes the rifle/scope combo look like a million bucks. Nice job!
Now, on to business. I would like to purchase two additional sets of rings and bases......

Other than that, my Conetrol mounts have given me ZERO problems.

EMAIL OR POSTMAIL RECEIVED FROM:   TL --- Wappingers Falls NY 12590
I wanted to drop you a note to thank you for your very prompt attention to my order for rings and bases for my Kimber Model 89 rifle.
I had a problem mounting my 2.5-8 Leupold ... on this rifle using the Kimber rings which came with the rifle. They would not accommodate the short length of the scope tube. By reversing your bases as you suggested the scope is now mounted perfectly.
I was going over old correspondence and noticed we have been doing business since 1976 and this last order was the eleventh rings and bases over that period. Needless to say every order met with very complete satisfaction. You are the best.

The Conetrol mounts that I bought 20 years ago have never been off the rifle and the scope has never lost its zero. That's the kind of quality I like. I have some (two manufacturers named) mounts but don't like them as good as yours.

[ed.note:  In letter requesting new Conetrol literature] Now for a small amount of bragging on your products. I use only Conetrol or (another mount manfacturer named) on my rifles, depending on availability at the time. .....
I recently built a .243 cal. varmint rifle consisting of a semi-heavy Douglas Premium 1-12 twist barrel, Winchester M70 short action, Canjar trigger, glass-bedded in M70 F/W stock, with new but discontinued Weaver 12x scope, with (the other mount manufacturer named) mounts. ..... Groups ran 3/4" at 100 yards -- no better, period.
Replaced (the other mount manufacturer's) mounts with Conetrol 2-pc. -- no other change. Now groups are 1/2" at 100 yards. All groups are 10-shot strings.
Thanks again for your super products.

I bought a Remington 700 classic in 6mm Rem 25 years ago from a crazy old man who was gun nuts when I was 19 years old.   I remember how all his guns had Conetrol mounts and rings.   I never forgot how the bluing shined on the polished rings.
Most people at work think I'm nuts spending almost $200.00 on rings and mounts when you can get a set made in China, made by 9 year old children for $35 at  (a famous chain of discount stores named).   They just don't understand the appreciation for a well made quality American product,  I guess.
Anyway, thank you for your service and your fine products.

I just received and installed my Cusutm mounts and rings for my Savage 99. I am absolutely delighted with the result. I never before realized how "clunky" my prior mounts were. The previous mounts were by (manufacturer named) and consisted of a bridge base and rings. Although (same manufacturer named) makes a quality steel mount system, after comparing it side by side to the Conetrol product I have to conclude that yours is the much superior product.
You also offer two piece bases for the Savage 99, something that (same other manufacturer named) does not and I was very glad that you did. In cold weather the restricted access provided by one piece bridge mounts makes for slow and tricky loading and unloading of the Model 99. With my Conetrol two piece bases I finally have the unimpeded action access that had eluded me in the past. Loading and unloading operations are now MUCH easier! Many thanks for continuing to offer two piece bases even for a discontinued (but wonderful) model like the Savage 99. I personally like the appearance of one piece bridge mounts, but when it comes to safety and convenience the two piece base design on the 99 makes great sense.
For sheer elegance and solid steel dependability the Conetrol system has no equal. Thank you also for your very prompt return phone call concerning these mounts as well as your expeditious processing of my order.

First, I would like to compliment you and all persons concerned for the splendid job of of thinking up and making such a mount for the Ruger #1 Single Shot with rib.
The way the attaching of the bases (the base segments of a DapTar two-piece base) is achieved is truly unique and excellent!
I could not have been more surprised and favorably impressed. The customer for whom I bought them was amazed too!

908290 ~ EMAIL OR POSTMAIL RECEIVED FROM:   Jerry Schleiger --- Hartsville SC 29550
Just wanted to say thanks for your wonderful service and great products. I placed my order (for a Gunnur base and Huntur rings for a Kimber) by phone Friday afternoon after talking with you.  I figured about a week to get my mounts. Wrong! They were in my mailbox the morning of Tuesday 10/26.  That's two days not counting the weekend and was shipped regular mail.  I don't think you can drive from Seguin TX to South Carolina in two days.  Were they the correct mounts?  Yep. They are exactly what I was looking for. They look like they grew on the rifle. I trusted you and you came through in spades.
When you call Conetrol you get a real live human being who's knowledgeable, courteous, and friendly. You get a hand made product made in the USA that is very simply, the best. When you put a couple of thousand bucks in a rifle and scope and spend a lot more than that on a hunting trip, why would you use just any mounts? The slight extra cost is insignificant when you see the results.
Thank you for not compromising your quality and integrity.  I wish other companies would take a lesson from you on how to run a business.
Please feel free to use this letter at your discretion

By the way, first I thought to let it mount by my gunsmith but out of curiosity and following to your user's manual, within the time of a good beer, sitting in my comfortable chair in my living room, I mounted it myself and it sits just perfect.
Just thought I had to tell you how enthusiastic I am about it.

Will you please send me one of your free brochures that I saw advertised in the "American Hunter." I personally have a pair of your Conetrol rings on my hunting rifle and I have been pleased with their ruggedness and low profile.

EMAIL OR POSTMAIL RECEIVED FROM:   MS --- Lewisberry PA 17339
I have been using one of your mounts, Custum base and Custum rings, on my main hunting rifle (Remingron Classic 700 in 300 Weatherby) and have found it to be excellent. I really like the sleek lines, good looks, and brutal strength. I have never had a problem with any shifting, sliding, loosening, or any other common problems with lesser mounts.
After numerous hunting trips to places from Ungava Bay, Quebec, to Deer Lakes, New Foundland, to Virginia, those mounts never shifted. It is always a good feelig to know that when you reach your destination your rifle will still hit to the same point as you sighted it in at.
I am now investing in a stainless rifle to use in bad weather, especially the rain and snow I always seem to run innto when I go away on a trip. Based on the excellent service I have received from (your) product, I would like to use another set on this new rifle.
I will be using these mounts on a new Winchester Model 70 Classic Stainless 300 Weatherby Magnum and a Nikon 3x9 matte scope. ..... I would like a pair of Conetrol "Huntur" split rings and a two (2) piece "Gunnur" base and I would like to upgrade to stainless cone screws.

We are just getting started in this area, and for years I have used only your mounts on my personal weapons. Please send me your current catalog and price sheet as I intend to stick with your mounts for all scope installation on customer weapons.
By the way, I had a set of your mounts on my Ruger 77, 7mm Magnum, this past season in Montana that took being bounced off a horse, rolled down a rock trail, and never lost their setting. Two days later a nice elk was taken at 400+ yards, right on target.
Thanks for making such a beautiful, rugged mount.

I must write to tell you how pleased our customer is with the Conetrol rings and bases he used to mount our Jena riflescopes to his firearms. We assisted him in the mounting procedure and I was absolutely astounded to note the very high quality of the intricate workmanship your mounting system displayed.
While the 3-piece rings and the two depending-stud screws at first appeared like they would present a formidable task to assemble, it was actually very easy and presented no problem at all. Thank you for a very fine product, one which we will begin to recommend to or customers.

   Subject: Happy Customer here.
Just had to write. I have a 20 + year old Sako 30-06 / A5 L61R. Was thinking about buying another gun but really liked my old Sako. I have about 10 guns, but this is my old reliable if you know what I mean. I bought the gun new in 1987.
I decided to re-scope. Put a Leopold VX-L 3.5x10x50 on with your Conetrol low rings and it fit like a custom job. Scope is actually lower then my old 3X9x40 scope was and I can see well into dusk. My buddies are now thinking of doing the same scope ring upgrade.
Your product definitely exceeded my expectations. I will take a photo of the setup and send it to you when I can. Thank you.

I’m trying to find base and rings for a Ruger No. 3 and a Burris 2 to 7 Short mag scope. It has Weaver bases, number 85 and 86 and they don’t look level, with the bore, I hope that you can help. I’ve used Conetrol rings and mounts before and they are the best. Thanks.

I spent 26 years in the US NAvy working my way up from enlisted to being a Chief Warrant Officer. When I finally retired my wife knew that a good retirement present would be a new rifle. She said pick out any one you want. I finally found a Win Model 70 Super grade in 300 Win mag. She also got me a nice 3x9 Leupold scope.
While looking for scope mounts I came across CONETROL and bought them for my rifle. They are simply the best mount I have ever had.
Now this past Xmas she give me another Model 70. This one is a featherweight 270. So I am back looking for mounts. I already have a 3x9 Leupold waiting to be put on. So when I save up the cash I will be placing another order.
The other thing I saw on your site was the section on "A Loved One Remembered." It touched my soul; only a man that has loved his wife so much could write such a fitting tribute. My wife and I had never had children and over my Navy carceer I left her at home way too many times.

I thought you’d like to hear that I recently returned to my home in Australia from a 6 day hunt in New Zealand for Tahr and Chamois. The rifle I chose for this hunt was a Winchester pre-64 Model 70 Featherweight in .270 Win., fitted with Conetrol Custum two piece mounts and a Leupold 4-12X40 scope. This combination was chosen for it’s ability to anchor these animals whilst be of light weight required for the mountain hunt.
Your mounts performed brilliantly in some very adverse alpine conditions. The strength, yet light weight, of your Custum mounts held the scope firmly on zero whilst sustaining several knocks brought about by walking (and stumbling) in heavy snow.
The trophy Chamois (pic below) was taken at an altitude of around 5,500 feet at a range estimated to be 200 yards. A single shot with a Hornady 140-gr. Interlock bullet and the trophy was anchored.
My guide commented on your Custum model scope mounts which I have on pretty well all my rifles. Well done and keep up the good work.

I offer my condolences on the passing of your wife.   [ed.note: See "A Loved One Remembered" on Menu Page.]   At the end, all who have any awareness realize the many ways in which they could have shown more love to those who have passed before them.  That awareness hurts you now, but it probably means that you showed her more love and happiness while she was here than she might have received from another.   None of us is a master of love and all of us have something to learn about it.   Your message touched me and has made me resolve to be a more loving husband.
[edit.note: VJW's faxed message above was much appreciated and touched me no less than my tribute to beautiful Esther Mae touched him.  He opines I probably gave her more love and happiness than another lifemate might have and resolves to be a more loving husband himself.   I was flattered and think I cannot but go with that.   .....    I received the (Extra-High Rings) from you, and they work great. Clearance between the scope eyepiece and the bolt handle lift is approximately 1/8". Will forward a picture to you later this week.
I have to say the projectionless rings possess greater beauty on the arm, and If you do come up with a higher lift projectionless ring let me know.
You have a great product and I will be passing that word at the range. Thank you for all of your kind assistance in my endeavor, it has been great meeting you, and I will definitely use Conetrol in any future scope mountings. I'm presently dealing on another model 70 in 22 hornet........

 Hello again.
In the fall of 2007 I purchased from you a mounting system for my Sako Deluxe.
Today, my friend asked me to find him “rings and mounts -- the best there is” for his new model 70 SuperGrade.   Of course, the first and only thing that came to mind was Conetrol…
He’s looking for high gloss blued mounts and rings, to match the blued finish of his new rifle. In terms of optics, he intends to mount a Leupold VX-3 (50 mm bell x 1”tube) and wants it as low as possible.
Please provide appropriate part numbers; cost and freight amount to 04730 (Houlton, ME).
   Thank you and best regards.

I just wanted to drop you a line to inform you that I am extremely pleased with your AQD (Quick Detach) bases and rings. I recently put a Nikon 30mm scope on my .375, and shot the enclosed group (ed.note: under half inch) on Saturday. That is five rounds at 100 yards, utilizing my pet load of the Hornady 300 gr. SBT with 76.0 gr. Winchester 760 powder.
As I was switching between the original Leupold scope and the new Nikon, a neighboring shooter thought I was nuts to remove the scopes. After I demonstrated that your design really does return to zero, he was sold!
