www.conetrol.com -- Stock Numbers

Stock Numbers

Very many surfers for very many months and even years have repeatedly expressed the desire to see our Stock Numbers pamphlet in its entirety on the  www.conetrol.com website.   The prospect of taking on a brand-new genre of computer-generated formatting -- graphics, column arrangements, font selections, line spacings, upper and lower case type choices, underlining, etc. -- was a project that was daunting, to the extent that we put off incorporating our Stock Numbers pamphlet into the Conetrol website for far too long.

But the weight of customer request has kept coming down, and we have now determined that what we will do herewith and henceforth is put online a scan of each new listing of Stock Numbers as it is printed for our mail-out literature.   What you see below is the very first full-blown reproduction of Stock Numbers that has appeared on our Stock Numbers webpage.  Because it is a scan it may not be quite as easy to read as high-definition printing by laser, but the smaller-print sections can be enlarged as needed to make them more comfortably legible.  Main thing surfers are getting is the whole ball of wax for the first time on the   www.conetrol.com website; and it can always be depended on to be the very latest up-to-date listings on our product.

(See section at bottom for an enlarged, easy-to-read version of the small footnotes at the end of the Stock Numbers pamphlet just above).

The fact is, Conetrol can fit more guns than it bothers to mention in its extensive Stock Numbers pamphlet. This is due to space limitations and the fact that many now unkown guns have gone into extinction or otherwise fallen by the wayside. Write, phone or email for information on guns not listed. In most cases either one-or two-piece bases are available. For guns which come with integral factory-designed mounting mechanisms Conetrol also maintains a complete line of DapTar Bases (which webpage see) that attach to such mechanisms and accept all Conetrol rings (and which incorporate Conetrol's famed dual-ring windage adjustment and recoil-absorbing strength.).

Suffice to say, Conetrol can provide mounting for more high-power guns than any other mount maker in the business. Even bases for guns long since obsolete are maintained in our bins.

When you are ready to order, you can call us toll-free at 800-CONETROL (1-800-266-3876) from 11 to 5 c.s.t. any weekday. All we need to know is the gun and scope to be used. (The specific information asked for in the second paragraph of our General Information webpage is important.) Click on our Catalog Page to look over and choose from the three basic styles of Conetrol mounting. If your scope has a 1" tube and an objective outside diameter larger than 2.125" our Extra-High Rings (which webpage see) may be needed. If 30mm or other metric-size scope tubes are involved, see Metric Rings webpage. Credit cards are accepted.

You can also send for a rush dispatch by U.S. Mail of the Conetrol stock-number pamphlet in print-shop quality by using e-mail or by calling our toll-free number (see below), but for your immediate on-line convenience we are summarizing below in larger, sharp  type very useful information found at the end of the pamphlet, having to do with ring numbers and the height of Conetrol mounting:

>>> Our projectionless 1" rings are available in 1/16", 1/8" and 3/16" heights. The numeral preceding the letter in each stock number of our rings signifies the height of the ring in 64ths of an inch, the letter of each stock number indicates the model, and the final numeral indicates the type -- solid or split. For example, 8G3 is our medium-height one-inch ring which places the scope tube 8/64" (i.e., 1/8") above the top of the base, is a Gunnur model, and is of split type (3 parts).

>>> Distance of scope tube above rifle receiver is determined by adding ring height to thickness of base, which is normally 7/32" over highest point of the action. Thus the scope is located 9/32" and 11/32" and 13/32" above the receiver ring of most rifles when using our regular low, medium and high one-inch rings respectively.

>>> A number indicating ring height in 64ths of an inch is stamped on the bottom of one of the halves of each ring. The same applies to our projectionless 26mm and 26.5mm rings, as well as the 1" rings.

>>> 30mm rings differ only in that the first digit of their stock number denotes the height in millimeters. Our 30mm rings are 3mm, 5mm, and 7mm high. Example: 70H3 is our high-height 30mm ring which places the scope tube 7mm above the top of the base, is a Huntur model and is of split type (3 parts). Thus, with base figured in, total height of a scope tube above most gun actions using high 30mm rings is about 12.5mm (1/2"). The number 30, 50 or 70 will be found stamped at the bottom of one of the halves of a 30mm ring.

NOTE: If greater height than our standard rings provide is needed to clear eyepiece or objective of scopes with either 1" or 30mm size tubes, our horizontal-split rings can be utilized. See our Extra-High Rings webpage.

(Helpful Hint: An easy way to determine how high to mount a scope on your gun is to use the shank of a drill bit as a gauge. Lay the drill bit across the highest part of the rifle action and lay the scope tube on it, holding the scope level with the bore-line of your barrel. The diameter of the drill bit that puts the scope where you want it is the total height needed; just add the height of the base [usually 7/32"] to the height of the ring you choose to arrive at this total height.)
